It is not just players and coaches that love Friday Night Lights. Friday Nights are for the moms too. #sweekstakes #FN5GL @Tmobile The uniforms. The music. The stands. The cheers. And the lights - oh, those Friday Night Lights! As a mom to a young Wilbur-Creston high school athlete I had a steady date every Friday night for four years. This is not just any date. The night is full of music from the band, entertainment, community, and sometimes a dash of agony - but mostly pure joy. When my son took to the field under the bright lights for the first time as a freshman I could have never imagined how quickly this Friday night ritual would come to an end. And when he prepared to take to the field as a high school senior, and captain, I couldn’t help but picture the little boy who loved to play catch in the backyard. I think for most moms when your child is on the football field, a gasp comes over you with every snap and every tackle. It’s not for the faint of heart! The football field is a place where dreams come true. Lessons are learned. The thrill of victory is in the air. The agony of defeat is shouldered by those who chose to show up. Despite having a vacancy in my calendar, the memories made watching high school kids leave it all on the field, under those lights, will live on. Message and photos provided by Catherine Seylor

Hooray to a successful first day of school at the Wilbur and Creston School Districts! Thank you to all our Wildcat students and staff for adjusting to our new cell phone policy. We had a great first day and cell phones were not an issue.

Wildcat Friday Night Lights stories keep rolling in! @T-mobile, #sweepstakes #FN5GL When we moved here in 2020 it was a new world for Dru. Our son was a sophomore coming from a 4A school to a 1B, which was quite the learning curve. He grew up with each kid having a "speciality" spot and not a lot of movement within teams. He quickly learned to play multiple positions and new rules. It gave him the opportunity to test out new positions and see where he excelled. I know he would not have had that opportunity elsewhere. He played on the offense and defensive line. He ended up settling into the quarterback position but don't you worry, he still played on the defensive side too in most games. He had one heck of an arm! He truly loved playing for our small town and if he was still here (serves in the US Navy) he would be right here every second he could helping out our future players. Tomorrow is the first day of school at Wilbur and Creston School Districts for grades 1st-12th. TK and Kindergarten in Wilbur will begin rolling start next week on Tues Sept 3rd. And Kindergarten in Creston will begin on Tues Sept 3rd. WA Kids Conferences for TK and Kindergarten will be held in Creston and Wilbur, please contact the school if you still need to set up a conference time. Here are a couple reminders for Creston Elem and Jr High: -Doors are open to students at 7:50 am - if your student is eating breakfast before school it will begin being served at 7:40am -School begins at 8:10am and is dismissed at 2:54pm daily -A bell will ring at 8:05 am to notify the students to report to their first class. Wildcat Football can't be stopped. Not by freezing February temperatures or even a Worldwide pandemic with restrictions and new seasons put in place. WC Jr High Volleyball Parent Meeting tonight at 6pm in the Creston School Gym for all 6th thru 8th graders interested in playing volleyball this year.

Our boys had the shortest offseason of any 1B football team in the State of Washington! The only 1B team left in the state that played last December and back at it under the lights last week on our Football Field preparing for a great year! The new school cell phone policy has been approved by the boards on Thursday and will be in place starting this upcoming 24-25 school year for the Wilbur and Creston School Districts. See the two FAQ pages for information about the new policy and procedures.

2024 Fall Youth Sports Opportunities Flag Football Kinder (age 5 by 8/31/24) - 6th Grade -Registration forms will be going out the first week of school and available to print on our website under the WC Youth Sports tab (due Aug 30th) -The 5-week season of games will be played on Saturdays starting the 4th Saturday in September. Wa Kids Conferences are coming up! This will be held on the first three days of school, Aug 28-30th from 8am-3pm at Creston Elementary & Wilbur Elementary for Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten students. Please email or call the school to set up a time to come in. See below for the office hours for the Elementary secretaries. In Creston, the first day of school for Kindergarten will be Sept 3rd. In Wilbur, the first day of school for Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten will be on a rolling start. Your student will be placed in either group A or B. Keep on the lookout for communication from your students teacher. What a difference a couple days can make! Thank you the Creston School District Facilities Director Aaron Kelp and for OSPI for approving our Healthy Kids-Healthy Schools grant. Mr. Kelp coordinated the resurfacing of our Parking Lot which looks awesome and will expand the asphalt life considerably. The grant funds from OSPI have us almost with a new, working Walk-In Cooler and Freezer in the Creston Kitchen! Great things are happening.

Wilbur Creston School Districts registration is now open for the 24-25 school year! Parents of current students should be receiving a packet in the mail today, it will include a registration letter, district calendar, and school supply list. Please make sure all contact information is current to keep up to date on school related information.
